Product Details
Description
The Chamaerops Humilis is one of the most common palm species in northern Europe, and is also the only palm that occurs naturally in Europe. The Chamaerops Humilis is therefore also called the European fan palm. In southern European countries, this palm can reach the wild about 4 meters high with dozens of tribes. The Chamaerops can tolerate considerable prince if it is only dry in the winter. The growth method of the palm has been stocked and therefore has a bushy appearance. In addition to its own tribe, the Chamaerops Humilis makes several cuttings, which increases the palm in width at a young age.
Seasonal product?
The Chamaerops Humilis is available all year round.
Care
This palm has a sunny location, may even be full sun, and very well drained soil. During dry, warm summers, water 3 to 4 times a week, depending on the bottom, because the palm should not be too wet. Fertilize the Palm once a year with our concentrated plant food, and to fertilize every three weeks with a liquid plant food. Just like with every palm, the oldest, brown leaf should be cut as close as possible to the trunk. Brown points can be cut. This has no further effect on the palm.
In the winter
The Chamaerops Humilis can survive with a dry winter to -15 ° C. It is important that the palm is well protected in the winter and that the soil remains as dry as possible. This palm is particularly sensitive to the combination of cold and moisture. It is therefore important to properly protect this palm in the Dutch winters against snow, hail or rain. If the palm stays in a pot, it must also be completely packed with a pot protection cover. Ventilate the wintering room well so that the palm does not increase mold.
